Cheese Apple Cake


Ingredients:

1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups coarse chopped apples
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Confectioner’s sugar for dusting

How to make Cheese Apple Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl of mixer, cream butter with sugar until well
    blended . Add egg, and beat well.
  • Combine dry ingredients and fold into creamed mixture. Add apples and cheese until just moistened. Spoon into
    greased and floured 8- inch square pan and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Cool on rack, then sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar. Serve with warm vanilla sauce.

Vanilla Sauce:

1/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup thick cream
1 & 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

  • In a small saucepan, combine butter, sugar and cream. Cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Add vanilla.
